Farnham House Hotel is close to many popular local attractions and set in a beautiful countryside location. An ideal venue for weddings and special occasions, meetings and conferences or for a well deserved break. The vaulted hall, fireplaces and period charm create a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
The established gardens are a joy to walk around and especially relaxing on sunny days. There is a tennis court and the hotel has a Croquet Set for guests to use. Our Moongate is a perfect setting for photographs.

Frensham Ponds
Frensham Common is owned by the National Trust and is a site of special scientific interest. It covers about 1000 acres and comprises a large area of heathland together with some coniferous and mixed woodland. The two large ponds were built in the middle ages to provide fish for the Bishop of Winchester’s Estate.

Birdworld
Britain’s largest bird park and gardens with a tropical aquarium and children’s farm. Number one attraction is very often the penguin feeding which happens twice a day every day. There’s a daily feeding tour filled with fascinating and interesting facts about Birdworld’s birds of prey – the Owl Prowl. For younger visitors ‘Animal Encounters’ at the Jenny Wren Farm is a must.

Jane Austen’s House
Set in the delightful village of Chawton is the house where Jane Austen wrote and revised many of her famous novels including Pride and Prejudice. The house is now a museum containing many interesting items of memorabilia and artefacts.

Alice Holt Forest
An ancient forest with provided the opening scenes for the epic film ‘Gladiator’ and supplied oak for the replica of Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre.

Farnham Castle
Dating from the 12th Century the castle is one of the most important historical buildings in the south of England. The castle was the former home to the Bishop of Winchester.

Watercress Line
The watercress steam train runs along a ten mile stretch of railway from Alton to the picturesque town of Alresford.

Hotel History
In 1896, Willey Park Estate was built for Charles Frederick Roumieu.
The house itself is an Arts & Crafts Building in the style of Richard Norman Shaw. It was one of the first in the area to have electricity built into it’s fabric as it had it’s own generator in the grounds.
The house is a building of delightful quirks, a solid Victorian presence and modern comfort. Within the bell tower, there is a bell dated 1805 (the year of the battle of Trafalgar) which was used to summon estate workers to dinner.
During the Second World War, the house became a residential nursery run as a joint venture by the Red Cross and the Order of St John.
In the summer of 1979, the building was purchsed by Mr Norman Levitt and opened as Trevena House Hotel. It is now known as Farnham House Hotel and owned by Hollybourne Developments Limited.
